Little Baddow Parish Council is delighted to announce that there is now a Rotary group within the village.  Currently, the group number 22, but are, of course, hoping to increase their membership.  Rotary is a global organization, and it aims to help and assist charities wherever and whenever necessary around the world.  This Rotary group helped at our recent Festival, and their assistance was greatly appreciated.  As a mark of their presence in the village, they plan to plant spring purple crocuses at the Memorial Hall and on the green at the crossroads of Colum Lane and spring Elms Lane.  The colour purple is significant, as Rotary are part of the team raising funds to eradicate polio in Afghanistan and Pakistan.  Bill Gates and Unesco are also part of this project.  As very few people in that part of the world have reading skills, once they have been vaccinated, their finger is dipped in purple dye to show they have been vaccinated.  A very worthy cause indeed.  Polio has been eradicated from most parts of the world, but some can still remember the horrors of the effects polio had in England during the last century, most of which were life-changing.

The Parish Council and Rotary will be working together on future projects within the village.
