Little Baddow Parish Council and Essex Wildlife Trust are working together to purchase 25 acres of woodland called ‘Fir Tree Woods’ for public ownership. The woodland will be split into two halves with Little Baddow Parish Council and Essex Wildlife Trust owning a half each.

Funding for phase one of the appeal to raise £200,000 for Little Baddow Parish Council to purchase half of the woods has been achieved with generous donations from residents in Little Baddow and beyond.

Phase two of the appeal to buy the remaining half of the woodland has just been launched by Essex Wildlife Trust. This appeal needs to raise another £200,000 and has started very well.

The woods are so worth saving! Untouched since the 1960s, they provide a habitat for Fire Rests, Barbastelle and Leisler’s Bats, as well as Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers, amongst numerous other species.  Please join us in saving this true wildlife haven and walkers’ paradise.

This is a rare opportunity for us to save a significant area of local woodland which is under threat of being sold and divided into plots, risking this enchanting woodland being degraded with restrictions for both people and wildlife.
